North Carolina Arrests Seventh Suspect in Alleged Car Insurance Scam

(NCDOI) - North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin reported the arrest this week of another Eastern North Carolina resident for his part in what Department of Insurance of investigators are calling an auto insurance fraud ring that staged accidents for more than four years and stole more than $100,000 in phony insurance payments.
Department of Insurance investigators and Greenville City police said they arrested Cory Timothy Jett, age 34, of Greenville. Jett is the seventh person arrested in connection with the alleged fraud ring that operated in eastern North Carolina. Police said he is charged with one count of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses. Jett was indicted in Beaufort County and placed under a $5,000 secured bond.
